SAT be warned
SA  here we come.
Think they are ready for us?

Diane69

Diane --
I felt it my civic duty to alert the city council, the alamo restoration committee, the king william society, the sapd, and the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals of the impending arrival of flocks of falcons on July 22. The mayor called an emergency meeting to coordinate this influx of birds (a la Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren) and particularly to
devote time discussing special forces arrangements to handle some guy from Maine wearing cowboy boots, shorts, and a Hawaiian shirt (a la Thomas Magnum ...  errr ...  Don Ho) who's also rumored to be packed and ready.

If there are other groups that should be forewarned, lemmeno.  >;-)

Diane...take all offers
Diane...YOU are wonderful for taking on the responsibilities of the organizer and everyone WILL appreciate all of your efforts.  It was so much fun to be able to make the arrangements for Charleston and then to see it all come together was simply overwhelming.  When offers of "help" came in, they were sincere and then were followed up with great participation.  Jeff Kucklick arranged for "off location" recreational activities like golf and deep-sea fishing expedition.  Donna Smith became the "hospitality mom" by taking charge of the hospitality room.  Barbara Long took charge of registration and enlisted a terrific staff to help it run smoothly so that I was able to run around like a headless chicken.  Vicky Niedenthal was the coordinator of the exhibit room where we had computers, maps, yearbook displays, scrapbooks, etc. etc.(she has done this professionally and it was wonderful).  Of course, Gary and John set up the computer station and were able to get newbies registered right on site. Ruth Kent had the official t-shirt & directory distribution center which also prepared mail order packages for those who were unable to attend.  Tom Sellers was the "head of transportation" and either picked up or arranged for anyone needing transpiration to or from the airport with unending assistance from Jeff
Kucklick and Bob and Cheryl Perron.  Becky Char and Ardis Ferguson were at my house during the prior week to assist in the task of assembling the awesome nametags that were designed and made by my husband, Lloyd, with "Long"distant help from Barbara Long who printed pictures from all of the yearbooks of potential attendance years.  Lloyd also volunteered his dixie-land jazz band (Med-Beats) to provide the music for our Fri night kick off party which set the tone for the weekend festivities.  Then all of the "kids" (pre-1970) showed up and insisted on taking on the responsibility of all of the last minute stuff so that the rest of us could enjoy socializing with our friends.  They finished nametags, ran errands and were on the spot for any little thing that we could possibly need.....I will be forever indebted to Ardis Ferguson, Jenny Cranfill Miller and Woody (Stacey Williams) for simply taking over those chores....we love those "kids" and have adopted all of them.  Then of course there was the leadership of our great leader, Jim Kent, who will probably never be able to step down from the presidency of the SENIOR TEENCLUB.

A great event will occur in San Antonio in July 99 and we will all be there to make sure that it happens.  Thanks again for all that you are doing!  You can also let know what I can do to help you.  I was so happy to meet you in COS and look forward to seeing you once again as it was a disappointment that you were unable to be in Charleston.

forwarded from Steve Riggs '72<steverig@postoffice.swbell.net>
Got a call from my sister today and she informed me of alot of people who are coming in to S.A. for the reunion next week. some of whom I don't see on your list, of course, they're like me, on our own faults. She did mention that all the "halfbreeds", (in their own words) were coming ion on Wednesday to go partying with Clusd (taco) Bernal. She also stated that Bill " Mad Dog" Hodges (71) was planning on trying to show up,,,,trust me, Bill and I go back along ways, during and after the P.I., there is a great chance of getting up with fleas!
Also, I talked to Bob Eccelston (72) on Tuesday the 13th. He and his wife, formerly,, Donna Collie (75), were leaving to go to her parents 50th wedding anniversary in new mexico,( no capitals needed, after all,, it is next to the great state of Texas) and would be returning in time to, at least, check out the friday night mixer.
Still no Bobby Brooks on my list, and she did ask for a reservation at my table for "Margaritas". No Jim Quinn either, all he wants is a tour guide.
Take care, I think the St. Anthony is gonna be busting at the seams.

P.S. Sammy Jimenez contacted also, wants to crash also.

KJ,
I haven't attended a single reunion yet.  I'm trying desperately to make the San Antonio reunion.  It should be interesting in the perspective that I'll be from the 80s people.  Trust me I'll let everyone know exactly how it went; however in my emailings I don't foresee anything but a little nervousness on my side.  I mentioned in a prior email doing a reunion in
Houston.  Maybe all the major players from the different era's need to get together and plan a reunion to bring together all the ages.  Myself, would be very interested in hearing their stories, because I didn't know that Wagner even existed (or shall I say Clark) in the 60's.  I mean I knew it did, but I didn't know there were dependents on the base at that time.
