The Learning Channel "Reunions" Episode #17, "Wagner High School" Page 13 |
|
The Learning Channel (TLC) featured Wurtsmith Memorial/Wagner HS in its Reunions program. Episode #17 "Wagner High School" was filmed in California and South Carolina in the summer of 1998, and included great coverage of the Charleston Reunion. The program was first broadcast on Thursday, 8 October 1998 with plans to air the show 5 or 6 more times during 1998. |

More hugging and a kiss. |
Hi John! Before I get into why I am writing I will tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Laura, I am 19 years old and I am writing from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. The reason why I am writing is simply because I saw you and others of Wagner High on the TLC Reunion show. This is a show that I love to watch and I was especially interested in you and your classmates stories. I guess I can not yet relate to how it would feel to not see your classmates or friends for 35 years but by watching the show I felt was somehow able to connect with your lives and share your experiences. Why I am writing? Truthfully,
I do not know. When I saw the website advertised on the car you picked
your date up in I was eager to look it up on the computer and find
out more about life in the Philipinnes and live at that time in general.
Also, I guess I was amazed at the fact and excited for you and the others
that you had the opportunity to meet again. I only graduated two
years ago, but already there are people who I have not seen since
graduation and the show made me promise myself not to wait 35 years until
I talk to them again. I am really glad that there are people out
there that take the time to
I hope this letter makes SOME sense to you, again I don't really know why I am writing. Maybe it's simply the fact that there is so much fiction on television but the Reunion show is real- instead of writing to a movie star but the actual person who lived through the experience. Anyways, I don't usually do this but after seeing this particularly Reunion episode more than once I was eager to visit the website and to write to you. . ...and I have some questions
for you...do you keep in touch still with those who you reunited
with?....what about Becky (I think that was her name)...

Wow, what a nice welcome from Becky! |
Laura,
You have an amazing insight for someone so recently out of high school. Many of our senior members, particularly those who graduated prior to this amazing internet, could not have imagined that someday it would possible to find each other and renew those friendships we had thought may be lost forever. It would be hard to predict what technology might bring to you and your classmates years from now. Thanks for your very nice note. Glad you enjoyed the show! John Prunier '65 |

But, the Reunion Duck stays with John. |
Jeanne,
I feel like one of the luckiest people alive. Not only do I get to work with Gary, Duckie, Don, Karen, Jimmy, Patrice, Woody, and all the others who contribute to our website, I also get to read these great letters from folks like Laura and you. Thank you all for the privilege! John '65 |
