The Learning Channel "Reunions" Episode #17, "Wagner High School" Page 12 |
|
The Learning Channel (TLC) featured Wurtsmith Memorial/Wagner HS in its Reunions program. Episode #17 "Wagner High School" was filmed in California and South Carolina in the summer of 1998, and included great coverage of the Charleston Reunion. The program was first broadcast on Thursday, 8 October 1998 with plans to air the show 5 or 6 more times during 1998. |

Becky sees John for the first time in 35 years. |
I recently saw Your
reunion on TLC. I just wanted to take a little time out to let you
know that I was truly touched by the closeness all of you share and
I think it is great that you can all keep in such close contact.
I hope you all the best!

John and the Duck give Becky a huge hug. |
Tina,
thank you for your note. The TLC reunion program did a very good job of showing the emotions we feel when we have our chance to reunite. Although the show focused on Wagner High School (go Falcons!), our story is a common one for all military brats. We were born and raised more or less on military bases. We moved from base to base experiencing different countries, different schools, and short relationships with our friends. Those friendships tended to be more intense and meaningful as a result. With the internet and electronic communication, it has truly been a door to our past. We can now find and rediscover those relationships we thought were lost forever. What better way to do this than reunions? And, we have reunions whenever possible, wherever we like, and without much regard for class years. I can't imagine traditional home town schools feeling the same way. We are very fortunate! Best Regards, John Prunier '65 |

Hmmm...it's been a long time. |
John, I spent an afternoon off from my dental office today with a migraine. However, I tuned into my favorite channel and thoroughly enjoyed a repeat presentation of your Charleston '98 reunion. Having graduated in Ohio in 1966 and attended a few of my class reunions, I re-identified with the sixties, and the good feelings of seeing old friends once again. Congratulations on an excellent website and good luck to you. Hey, are you married now? Dick Scherf

The years begin to melt away quickly. |
Dick,
thanks for your note. I can now add another benefit from our TLC reunion show, a cure for migraines! Come to think of it, I've attended four major reunions and many smaller get-togethers, and I can't recall ever having a headache during the events, although we tend to get little sleep or food for 3-4 days! (and please don't ask me about afterwards, ha ha) The '60s was a great time to grow up, even for military brats. But of course I may be somewhat partial! Ha ha. We appreciate your comments on our website. Many have volunteered time and memorabilia to make it the best alumni site possible. Sincerely, John Prunier '65 |

Jeff Kucklick '63 and Dianne watch the hugs, along with a large crowd. |
Isn't it great that people
who never went to Wagner are finding out about it and the web site.
I especially like the fact they take the time to visit the web site and
send John their thoughts on it. And all due to computer technology.
It would have been just too cool for Wagner to still exists and all us
to be able to e-mail and chat with the students.
