Yes, Virginia, there WAS a Lompoc reunion

Well, looks like everyone survived another reunion. Whew! With the liquor flowing, the sleep lacking and the laughs roaring, I wasn't sure any of us would be here today.

For those of you who once again missed the whole thing, here's a recap of the weekend's event (with some sidenotes thrown in)

Thursday night:
KJ flies into Burbank Airport. Arrives late and not knowing who was the welcoming committee. Funny thing: NO WeLCOMING COMMIITTEE. I wandered around looking for Kat or Carole or MoJo, someone with a familiar face.  Finally, I found a face I knew, but I knew it wasn't MY ride: It was a very annoyed Sammy Hagar! Nice butt, bad hair, torn jeans, big mouth.

After a few rounds through the airport I decided to park myself in the bar and wait. Not long after, Kat arrived to my vast relief. We sat in the airport, discussed dinner options and found our bartender was eavesdropping. When I mentioned "Mongolian BBQ" she asked if that was any good because there was a place near her house called "MoJo's." Well, since we were spending the night with MoJo Kristol, we thought that was a plan.  After driving four miles in as loong as it takes me to drive 90, we found our place. We also discovered Cher, the bartender can't read because the name of the place is "MoGo's" with a G, not a J.

No matter, we ate, filled our tummies well and headed to Jo's casa, where I crashed on the couch (thanks, mare!)

Friday:
Tony G was going to pick me up at 9-9:30 so we could cruise up to Santa Barbara before going on to Lompoc. Working on Filipino time, we left at 12:30! We had a lovely drive to SB, enjoyed a good lunch with all the pigeons we could tolerate and about 20 more and made a new acquaintance with the lady sitting behind me, eavesdropping. I guess you really can't take me anywhere, because I WILL talk to anyone. Right, Tony?

After lunch, Tony and Alice and I walked down to the water where Tony scattered his father's ashes. It was a fitting send off for a man of the sea. Of course, I thought the Chinese take-out box was a little quirky. But hey! Maybe the guy liked Kung Pao.

Then, being the tourists we were, we put the top down on the cherry red mustang and cruised up the coast. It was a great ride. Got a little chilly there when we turned of the coast and into the long, shadowy canyon. But it was a HOOT!

Then, finally, we were in Lompoc! Let the games begin!

more to come
