| Mac and
I were picked up Friday morning by his former law associates Henry and
Patricia who had moved to Colorado earlier that year from Memphis to be
close to the mountains. We rode south of Colorado Springs about an
hour and then up into the mountains over the most impossible road bouncing
our gonads all the way. Once at 8,000 feet we parked and hiked up
to the 12,000 foot level enjoying a serenity of place and time, of
friendship and sharing deeply felt by all of us. The glorious mountains
filled my soul to overflowing. This was truly one of the Creators
sacred places. Henry and Patricia proved to be most special people
and I was priviledged to spend such a day with them and with my oldest
friend Mac Dickinson. Later we shared a meal at a quaint country
restaurant that served only two things on the menu each night, at two separate
seatings, while we enjoyed a wonderful duo sing western songs.
It was a day to remember and this is how I prefer to remember Mac. Wish we had more time to spend doing such things before cancer claimed him. Jerry'63 |
