Back of the post card.
Anyway...When I was a Jr in
HS (1951) I was selected as the Toastmaster of the Jr/Sr Prom. Now, I was
never good at public speaking, or anything public (in my mind), but I guess
somehow my teachers thruout my school years decided differently. (I was
selected for the lead role in our Operetta--not sure about the grade, probably
8th, the Junior play, and the Senior play.) Of course, I did have a good
memory in those days, and did quite well in school....back to the story.
Well, I prepared the things I wanted to say, but needed something to keep
notes on--hay! My memory wasn't perfect! 3 x 5 cards weren't cheap or easy
to come by in those days. Our school only provided us with books! So, I
purchased 5, 1 cent post cards, and used the back for my notes! (pretty
cheap, huh?) A few years ago, while I was visiting my family in the states,
my sister told me she wanted me to look at some of the things my Mom and
Dad have saved for me and my cousin over the years (He was a senior that
year, and one of my best friends. We were more like brothers.) Among these
items which were a few photos of old friends including girlfriends was
this card. The only one of five that was left! I can't help but wonder
if my cousin might have "borrowed" the rest! But, I can't ask him now.
He was only a year older than I, but he passed away when I was living in
the PI about 15 years ago. Well, I'm getting too sentimental, and this
is enough anyway. Bruce
