[MEM] Contest Commemorative Memorial Plaque Project
Date: Mon, 01 May 2000 From: Duckie <admin@whoa.org> TO: All Lists Subject: Commemorative Memorial Plaque Project The Memorial Plaque Committee
is announcing a Contest for the Plaque that we plan on displaying in the
Clark Museum. For all of you who do not already know, a Committee has been
set up for the purpose of presenting a Memorial Plaque to the Clark Museum
in memory of, and dedicated to all of the schools and faculty during
the history of CAB. We are attempting to
1) Material: We would like feedback as to the material you think the plaque should be made out of. We currently are looking into Philippine Mahogany (carved), Marble, and Bronze. 2) Plaque Design: We are offering a $25.00 prize for the design selected by the Memorial Committee. Your name will also be placed on the plaque in recognition. 3) Wording/inscription: We are offering a $25.00 prize to the person submitting the best wording/inscription that conveys the feelings of so many of us about our times at Clark and attending school(s) there. We would suggest that this not be so much a dedication to Clark but rather to the school(s). Your name will be placed on the plaque in recognition. 4) For help with your design, the size of this plaque has pretty much been established as 2ft high by 3ft long. While a specific location has not been established, the Clark Museum indicates that space for hanging this plaque, along with a glass case for displaying other memorabilia, may be available. Details on location are still be worked on. 5.) Donations of memorabilia
for possible display in the museum at Clark are to be sent to Dan. Keep
in mind, we can't guarantee the memorabilia's return or be held responsible
for items donated to the museum at Clark or another location that may be
chosen. We are also accepting money donations to fund this project.
Any amount you wish to send will be most

Please read the following rules very carefully. Rule # 13 is very important!!! General Contest Rules: Applicable to both contests for drawings and inscriptions. 1.) We will accept entries for both contests beginning now and running through May 30th at 12 midnight EST. 2.) Keep the spirit of the drawing/inscription within the parameters of representing the most students/faculty of DoDDS Schools at CAB. No foul language or pictures will be considered. 3.) Submissions of inscriptions or drawings found in any Wurtsmith/Wagner or DoDDS CAB school yearbooks, school newspapers or any scanned material found via the WHOA Web Site are acceptable. The first person to submit it, if duplicates are received, will get credit for the idea. (ie: The 1985 yearbook contains a drawing of a Falcon in flight within the Bust of a Falcon that was drawn by a student, and it has been submitted by Kylene '85.) 4.) Votes will be tabulated by the Memorial Committee. Memorial Committee Members will have right to use alternate 2nd or 3rd choices, if the entry with the most votes is not able to be made by an artist or in medium chosen for the plaque. 5.) If we receive an overwhelming number of entries, Memorial Plaque committee members will preview the entries and narrow the entries down to the best ones and voting will commence on those chosen by the committee. 6.) Decisions of committee members are final. 7.) If you are not a member of the Mem. List...(and we suggest all who are interested in this project to subscribe to that list)...please send all suggestions for the wording/inscription to Dan directly and he will forward it to the Mem. List. <danny3447@Juno.com> 8.) If you are a member of the Memorial List, you may submit suggestions for the wording/inscription directly to that list...NOTE: Wording only!!! If you want to become a member tell Dan and he will get you subscribed. <danny3447@Juno.com> 9.) Inscription/s may be in the form of any thoughts or phrases, as long as it is authored/written by the person/s who submit it. (ie: poems/words written and previously published that would require us to ask permission of the author/publisher are not acceptable unless it falls under General Contest Rule #3.) 10.) Drawings must be original works of art. (ie: artwork that was/is published that would require us to ask permission of the artist are not acceptable unless it falls under General Contest Rule #3). 11.)
